Bric-a-Brac and Rags

Bric-a-Brac and Rag Recycling

Bric-a-brac recycling is a relatively surprising one to most people. There is a whole industry set up around bric-a-brac being collected from charity shops, boxed up and shipped abroad, where items we see as junk hold a value for many people.

Many of these companies will purchase your unwanted bric-a-brac at a small price based on weight. Bric-a-brac is most items you’d give to your charity shop; small electrical, crockery, cutlery, ornaments etc. The main items they do not want is old VHS, vinyl, broken stuff etc. Best advice is to give them a ring and see what is and is not accepted.

Rags or textiles is a traditional form of recycling dating back to the start of the rag and bone man. Companies now have firmly established systems for grading and recycling all manner of textiles from old clothes, bags and shoes. The materials get graded and sent abroad for re use with items which have no ability to be re used sent to be turned into commercial wipes, among other things.
