Skip Hire or Man (Woman) and Van or...?

Skip Hire or Man (Woman) And Van or...?

Skip hire, or a van team for your waste disposal; which do you choose? There is a huge amount of information across the web about the benefits of one or the other, and if you have little look you might find that the information is created by a company providing one service or the other. This might  mean that the information your being given is slightly biased.

This is simply our view from The Waste Place on Skip Hire and Man (Woman) and Van, along with other optionswhich you may have, but rarely see in information provided by these sites. So we’ll start with;

Skip Hire

Tried and tested and perhaps the solution most people are used to, skips come in a variety of sizes from the tiny mini (2 yard) all the way to the mighty roll off (40 yard). This gives a wide range of choice depending on the volume of waste. As long as you have a location to drop off, skips are perfect to be left with you to fill in your own time. They allow you to keep the waste neat and tidy. Skip companies also maintain great records, and will be able to provide information on the volume of waste they recycle. This option also allows a large weight to be removed which is a huge bonus to using skips.

Man (Woman) and Van

Van teams are on the increase and becoming a popular choice for waste collections. A huge bonus is the van team's ability to get to most spaces and their offer of labour to load. This allows the customer to focus on whatever else they need to. Van teams also do not require a permit, reducing a cost for yourself, and often are able to provide a response in a timely manner.

Other Options

As with all things there are many other options, one would be to hire a grab/muck away. This is potentially the best priced option if you are removing a large volume of hardcore / rubble / soil. If you have a waste carriers permit then using a waste transfer station can be a very cost effective solution.

Whichever option you take we’d advise you take a look at our Saving Money On Your Trade Waste guide, and do your research. Picking the right option can make a huge difference to cost and ease of your waste removal.
